Senior Flood Risk Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to flood risk and drainage design within a multidisciplinary water management team. You will work on flood risk assessments, drainage schemes and SuDS concepts, supporting projects from concept to construction. You’ll engage in fee proposals and project management to help deliver client-focused solutions. The position combines technical delivery with commercial performance in a collaborative, consultancy environment. This is a hybrid role in Swindon, offering exposure to varied development types and regulatory processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform Flood Risk Assessments and develop Drainage Strategies
• Design and assess SuDS for various development types
• Contribute to SuDS retrofit design and assessments
• Handle Land Drainage/Ordinary Watercourse Consents (S23) and Environmental Permits
• Utilize hydraulic, ground modelling and GIS tools (Causeway Flow, CAD, QGIS)
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation
• Support fee proposals and project management
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions

Key requirements

• Experience in flood risk assessments and drainage strategy development
• Experience with SuDS design and retrofit
• Knowledge of S23 consents and environmental permits
• Proficiency with hydraulic modelling and GIS tools (Causeway Flow, CAD, QGIS)
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
• Experience in consultancy is a plus
