Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

As Platform Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design and validate core mechanical, thermal, and vacuum systems that integrate SPTS process equipment into customer fabs. You’ll work in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to meet tight regulatory and project deadlines, while supporting manufacturing and service activities. You’ll contribute to obsolescence engineering and prototype testing, with opportunities for personal growth in a global, highly technical environment. This role combines hands-on design with collaboration across departments to enable advanced wafer processing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design from concept to release for product hardware
• Designing components for vacuum environments
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary systems design teams
• Pneumatic systems design
• Obsolescence engineering
• Produce design documentation and regulatory-relevant reports
• Support Manufacturing, Commodity and NPL departments
• Bill of materials cost control and supplier liaison
• Build and test prototypes
• Lead small projects from concept to implementation
• Mentor junior engineers

Key requirements

• Minimum Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering or related
• 3D CAD experience with Solid Edge or similar
• Proven development and design experience
• CNC machining and fabrication design experience
• Experience using FEA tools
• Excellent knowledge of GD&T
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team
• Good IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
