EC&I Engineer

Overview

In this hands-on role you will plan hydrogen production, oversee maintenance and electrical/control systems, and ensure safe, compliant operations. You’ll work with Operations, Engineering and Commercial teams to maximise plant availability and optimise production. You’ll tackle faults, improve processes, and support OT and safety compliance in a fast-moving hydrogen facility. This is a practical, cross-functional role at a growing site with scope to influence best practices and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Plan hydrogen production in line with customer demand
• Support planned and reactive maintenance
• Maintain plant records, inspections and maintenance history
• Analyse plant performance
• Coordinate hydrogen logistics
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot PLCs
• Support the site's operational technology (OT) infrastructure
• Produce and maintain RAMS, permits to work, isolation certificates and operational procedures
• Support compliance with Electrical Safety Rules, DSEAR, ATEX (BS EN 60079) and Functional Safety (BS EN 61511)
• Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions
• Ensure hydrogen product quality meets specification
• Assist with procurement of maintenance materials
• Support commissioning, inspections and maintenance activities

Key requirements

• EC&I within a process or industrial plant environment
• Practical knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
• Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Experience producing RAMS, permits and technical documentation
• Knowledge of industrial electrical safety practices
• Electrical qualification with experience on industrial electrical systems (up to 11kV desirable)
• Appointed Person/Senior Appointed Person status, or willingness to work towards
• ATEX and Functional Safety qualifications are advantageous
• Desirable experience in hydrogen production, gas processing or high-pressure plants
• Working on electrical systems up to 11kV
• Knowledge of DSEAR, ATEX, BS EN 61511 and ISO 14687
