Pipeline Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver technical engineering across the full lifecycle of major pipeline projects, working with clients and multidisciplinary teams. You will apply advanced analysis, design buried pipelines, and lead rehabilitation options and asset life assessments. You’ll produce high-level technical reports and contribute to proposals, helping to advance sustainable water networks. This position offers collaboration with industry specialists on high-profile projects and opportunities to drive research initiatives and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural design of buried pipelines and material selection
• Apply pipeline analysis tools and evaluate rehabilitation options
• Lead condition and failure assessments to extend asset life
• Oversee trenchless technologies and thrust restraint design
• Contribute to project proposals and high-level technical reports
• Support research initiatives with industry bodies such as UKWIR and CIRIA

Key requirements

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Chartered or Incorporated status or working toward ICE/CIWEM
• Experience across pipeline disciplines including buried pipeline design
• Familiarity with BS EN 1295-1:2019, BS 9295:2020; CIRIA C816/Report 128
• Knowledge of rehabilitation, trenchless design, and piping analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II)
• Strong proposal, report-writing, and stakeholder communication skills
