Technical Sales Engineer

Overview

In this role you bridge engineering expertise with customer needs to deliver technically compliant building envelope solutions. You will support projects from enquiry to completion with engineers, architects, and contractors, translating technical concepts into practical proposals. You’ll work across the UK, presenting engineering solutions and contributing to new opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships. This position blends hands-on calculations with commercially viable outcomes, offering meaningful impact in a technical, customer-facing capacity.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and engineering guidance on composite floors, roof decking, and building envelope systems
• Prepare structural estimations, calculations, and technical proposals in response to enquiries
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements; carry out manual calculations when needed
• Analyse wind loading regulations to ensure compliant designs
• Engage with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients across project lifecycles
• Support projects from enquiry to completion with accurate, viable solutions
• Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations as required
• Identify new project opportunities and maintain strong customer relationships
• Collaborate with internal engineering and commercial teams; attend client meetings, design reviews, and site visits across the UK
• Stay updated on industry standards, legislation, and construction sector developments

Key requirements

• 3-5 years' experience in structural/ construction engineering or technical support
• Essential: structural or civil engineering background
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Solid understanding of composite floor systems, roof decking, façade/building envelope products
• Experience performing structural calculations and interpreting wind loading requirements
• Experience with structural calculation software is highly desirable
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to provide practical solutions
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to customers and stakeholders
• Commercial awareness to identify project opportunities; self-motivated with good organizational skills
• Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK and work independently
