Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive technical governance and delivery assurance for complex civil detailing within a major infrastructure and clean energy division. You will act as a bridge between client requirements, multi-disciplinary design teams, and tier 1 detailing contractors, ensuring compliance and structural integrity on landmark UK energy developments. You will lead technical reviews, manage lifecycle design activities, and chair high-level meetings to maintain delivery momentum. This position offers impact across governance, risk management, and interface coordination in a demanding, standards-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide authoritative technical ownership for civil detailing packages across design and construction lifecycle
• Lead technical review, verification, and approval of master detailer deliverables and structural drawings
• Ensure designs comply with UK standards, replication principles and corporate governance
• Manage pre-contract and post-contract detailed design activities including tendering and scope definition
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and alignment of technical requirements
• Act as primary technical interface between client, internal project management, and external stakeholders
• Proactively manage design risks, apply configuration control, and mitigate deviations from master programme
• Chair technical meetings, design workshops, and progress reporting to drive delivery momentum

Key requirements

• Proven technical leadership and squad checking in a complex civil engineering environment
• Deep practical understanding of heavy civil design processes, concrete/steel detailing, and construction methodologies
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to resolve technical issues across interfaces
• Experience with configuration management, quality assurance, and design replication methodologies
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with extensive hands-on detailing and design assurance experience
