Senior Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our clients expanding team in London. You can expect to work as apart of a team of nearly 70 across a variety of UK offices and be working on desk studies, optioneering development constraints identification. Providing advice on Planning Applications and ES. Design and management of intrusive ground investigations, factual and interpretative reporting. From a design aspect you’ll be working on foundations, retention, slope stabilisation, brownfield remediation, mineral consolidation and earthworks.The ideal candidate for this position would be someone with extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, who excels in leading and mentoring a team of engineers and who can demonstrate their ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for complex geotechnical challenges ensuring compliance with industry standards. What’s on offerFlexible working arrangementEnhanced inhouse training schemeProfessional fees paidPersonal health care planLife insuranceInterest-free travel loan schemeHoliday buy back schemeBonus SchemeThe roleDevelop comprehensive ground and conceptual site models from desk studies and ground investigation data, producing clear, concise, and informative reports.Understand the role of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering in the design of residential, commercial, and retail developments, and associated infrastructure.Analyse soil and rock behaviour in the UK & apply value engineering principles to maximize client and contractor value while overseeing piling works, earthworks, and foundation processes.Execute temporary and permanent works design, ensuring robust project outcomes.Exhibit exceptional written communication skills with proficiency in report writing and reviewing.Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Engineers, aligning workload with resources.Coordinate multiple projects for various clients while managing conflicting deadlines.Understand fee structures, cost management, and billing within a consultancy setting, coupled with an appreciation of the budgetary and commercial drivers in the development sector.Oversee earthworks processes, including the preparation of earthworks specifications, monitoring construction, and validating earthworks reports.Demonstrate expertise in soil-structure interaction, geotechnical design, and interpretation, including ground model determination, slope stability assessments, shallow and deep foundation design, ground improvement options, retaining wall design, and ground movement assessments.What you need to succeedBSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or BEng in Civil Engineering.Proven and demonstrable experience in a civil or geotechnical engineering consultancy within the UK with a minimum of 4+ years’ experience. Ideally to have a MSc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.Ideally to be a Chartered Geologist or Chartered Engineer.Experience with the National Highways CD 622 process, as well as familiarity with London Underground and Network Rail standards, and temporary works design.
