This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking to develop their career within a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment.Working as part of a dedicated maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and fault-finding on a wide range of production machinery and plant equipment. You will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and ensuring production continues to operate safely and efficiently.This is a hands-on mechanical maintenance role suited to someone who enjoys diagnosing faults, solving technical problems and keeping production machinery running reliably.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out mechanical maintenance and repairs on production machinery, plant and equipmentComplete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise breakdowns and production downtimeDiagnose and resolve machine breakdowns quickly and effectivelyFault find on mechanical systems, including gearboxes and associated machineryWork with and understand pneumatic and hydraulic systems and circuitsLiaise effectively with on-site contractors and remote service engineersUse a CMMS maintenance system to accurately record maintenance activities, breakdowns and completed workMonitor and maintain appropriate levels of critical engineering spare partsSupport continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiativesProvide guidance and mentor apprentices within the maintenance teamWork independently and use initiative when responding to breakdowns and technical issuesSupport the wider engineering team with overtime when requiredRequirementsTo be considered for this Mechanical Maintenance Engineer position, you will need:A relevant NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, Engineering or a related disciplineA minimum of 4 years’ industrial maintenance experiencePrevious experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Engineering TechnicianExperience working within a manufacturing, production or industrial engineering environmentStrong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skillsExperience working with gearboxes, machinery and mechanical systemsGood understanding of pneumatics and hydraulicsExperience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenanceExperience using CMMS / computerised maintenance management systemsAbility to diagnose breakdowns efficiently and minimise production downtimeGood communication skills and the ability to work with contractors and external engineersAbility to work independently, prioritise workloads and use your own initiativeFlexibility to work overtime when required to support productionShift PatternThe role operates on a 4-shift rota:Shift 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm, Monday to FridayShift 2: 2:00pm – 10:00pm, Monday to FridayShift 3: 10:00pm – 6:00am, Monday to FridayShift 4: 6:00am – 4:00pm, Thursday to SundayWhat’s on Offer?36,000 salaryPermanent position within an established manufacturing business4-shift working patternHands-on role with varied mechanical maintenance responsibilitiesOpportunity to develop your engineering careerSupportive, team-focused working environmentOvertime opportunities when requiredIf you are an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Maintenance Engineer with a strong manufacturing background and are looking for a new opportunity in Barnsley, we would like to hear from you.To discuss the role in more detail, please get in touch with Logan at Stirling Warrington on
