Remote IT Engineer (MSP)

Senior IT Support Engineer | MSP

Edinburgh & Lothians | £35,000-£42,000 DOE

Home-based with client visits, typically 1-2 days per week

When you move jobs, who you work with matters just as much as the technology you work with.

That's why I want to share a little more about the people behind this opportunity.

I know one of the owners of this established Edinburgh MSP, well through recruiting for the business. They are approachable, down to earth and have a great sense of humour.

I've also placed four people there over the last couple of years. The candidates are still there and speak highly of it. That gives me something more meaningful to share than the usual "great company culture" line

WHAT'S THE ROLE?

You'll provide hands-on 2nd/3rd line support, act as an escalation point for other engineers and work across varied client environments, including infrastructure migrations.

Technical scope includes

• Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory & Intune
• Windows Server & Group Policy
• Networking, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, switches, routers & VPNs
• Virtualisation, backup & recovery
• Endpoint & infrastructure security

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU NEED?

• At least three years' hands-on experience working for an MSP is essential
• Strong 2nd/3rd line support and troubleshooting skills
• Experience handling technical escalations
• Confident communication with clients and colleagues
• The ability to work independently
• A full UK driving licence
• Based within reach of Edinburgh and the Lothians for client visits
• Microsoft certifications are welcome, but practical experience carries more weight.

WHAT'S ON OFFER?

• £35,000-£42,000, depending on experience
• Home-based working with client visits, typically 1-2 days per week as and when required
• Support towards relevant professional accreditations and courses
• An employer I know through an established recruitment relationship and successful placements
