About the role
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading global manufacturing business in Telford for an experienced IT Engineer to join their established IT team. This is a hands-on infrastructure role.
You'll keep VMware, Cisco and server environments secure, reliable and available across office and production environments, working alongside local and global IT teams and external suppliers.
Key responsibilities
Monitor and maintain VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, including VM provisioning, snapshots, templates, patching and capacity planning
Configure and maintain Cisco switches and routers: VLANs, trunking, routing, IOS upgrades and network hardening
Support Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
Carry out backup validation, recovery testing and disaster recovery testing
Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless and VPN issues
Install and rack servers and network equipment, and handle break-fix and hardware replacement
Apply security patches, remediate vulnerabilities and review system logs
Coordinate upgrades and maintenance windows, and keep documentation and asset records up to date
What we're looking for
Experience in an infrastructure, systems or network engineering role, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial setting
Hands-on VMware ESXi/vSphere administration (around 3 years preferred)
Strong Cisco switching and routing knowledge (around 3 years preferred)
Solid Windows Server and AD experience, plus working Linux knowledge
