This is a hands‑on role for someone with practical experience in chemical, analytical, environmental or general wet chemistry laboratories. You will need a good grounding in Chemical Sciences, including chemical handling and storage, preparation of reagents and solutions, laboratory equipment and safe working practices.

Based primarily in our Cockcroft laboratories, you will have a core Chemical Sciences workload while working as part of the wider technical team and supporting other laboratory areas when required.

This is a fixed‑term post until 31 May 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare allocated laboratory activities, ensuring materials and equipment are ready and suitable for use.
• Operate and maintain general laboratory equipment, carrying out routine checks and troubleshooting faults where appropriate.
• Support safe laboratory operation, including chemical handling and storage, waste management and relevant laboratory documentation.
• Work collaboratively with academics, technicians, students and other laboratory users, supporting activity across the wider technical service when required.

About the Faculty and Technical Services
