Are you an experienced Science Technician looking for your next opportunity in a secondary school?

We are currently seeking a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a school based in South West Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with previous school experience who is passionate about supporting effective teaching and learning within a busy Science department.

Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school setting is essential. The successful candidate will be confident supporting practical science lessons and ensuring laboratories are well-equipped, safe and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and organise equipment and materials for practical Science lessons.
• Support teaching staff with the preparation of experiments and demonstrations.
• Maintain, clean and organise laboratory equipment and resources.
• Ensure laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas are kept safe and tidy.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and maintaining supplies.
• Follow health and safety procedures, including the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and other materials.
• Assist with routine maintenance of equipment and report any faults or concerns.

The Ideal Candidate

• Must have previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school environment.
• Has a good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Is organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
• Can work independently and as part of a wider school team.
• Has excellent attention to detail and a flexible approach.
• Is committed to supporting teachers and helping students get the most out of their Science lessons.
