Commercial Litigation Solicitor | NQ to 2 PQE | St Albans (Hybrid)

Want to run your own commercial disputes caseload, with a directory-recognised team behind you? This St Albans firm also takes on matters referred in by London and national practices, without the daily London commute.

The firm

My client has a highly regarded commercial litigation team. A leading legal directory recognises it for managing sensitive, large-scale proceedings, and for being approachable and easy to deal with. The firm now wants to add a Commercial Litigation Solicitor to its growing, established Dispute Resolution team.

The work

  • Commercial contract disputes
  • Director and shareholder disputes
  • Contentious insolvency, supported by a large roster of Insolvency Practitioner clients
  • Non-contentious advisory work alongside litigation
  • Matters referred in by London and national firms when they're conflicted

Clients include businesses, directors, shareholders and private clients.

The role

As Commercial Litigation Solicitor, you'll build and manage your own varied caseload with appropriate supervision. You'll also support colleagues on complex, high-value disputes. Day to day you'll be:

  • Running matters from first instruction through to settlement or trial
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and correspondence
  • Attending hearings, mediations and client meetings
  • Preparing trial bundles and working alongside counsel
  • Carrying out legal research and preparing advice notes
  • Getting involved in business development, networking and marketing

About you

  • NQ to 2 years PQE (at least 6 months seat completed in commercial litigation)
  • Experience in insolvency litigation would be a bonus
  • Strong academic and technical ability
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to juggle competing deadlines
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a real commitment to client service
  • Good IT skills

What's on offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Hybrid working
  • Full-time, permanent
  • A supportive team where newly qualified and junior solicitors can develop their careers
