Senior Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Information Security Engineer to join their team in Randburg . This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust security systems and infrastructure. You will play a key role in protecting the organization's information assets by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security controls, and responding to security incidents. This position offers a significant opportunity to influence the security architecture and contribute to a secure digital environment within the Gauteng region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage network and system security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
• Implement and maintain endpoint security technologies and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
• Conduct security architecture reviews and recommend improvements to enhance the overall security posture.
• Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Develop and automate security processes and scripts to improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into the software development lifecycle and infrastructure management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in information security engineering or network security.
• Strong technical expertise in security technologies, network protocols, and operating systems.
• Proven experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and container security practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, GSEC) are highly preferred.
