Software Engineering meets Medical Device Development!

We're working with a growing medical device manufacturer in Cambridge that's looking to bring fresh software and AI expertise into its established engineering and R&D department.

The business is investing significantly in new product development and emerging technologies, creating an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer who wants to do more than traditional software development.

This is a newly created position with plenty of freedom to explore ideas, develop solutions and make a genuine impact.

What You'll Be Doing

Working closely with the R&D and engineering teams, you'll help introduce new software, AI and technology-led solutions to support medical device development and wider business improvements.

This could involve:

• Designing and developing software applications and tools.
• Exploring how AI, automation and emerging technologies can support R&D and product development.
• Working alongside engineers to understand technical challenges and develop practical solutions.
• Improving existing systems, processes and software capabilities.
• Taking ownership of projects from initial ideas through to development, testing and implementation.

Who Would Suit This?

Ideally, someone with:

• Around 3–5 years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong programming skills, particularly Python, Java or similar.
• An interest in AI, machine learning and emerging technologies.
• Experience with software development, testing and CI/CD.
• A background in Software Engineering, Computer Science or an engineering-related degree.
• The confidence to work independently and collaborate with engineers from different disciplines.
• Experience in an SME, start-up or product development environment would be particularly appealing.

We're especially interested in people who enjoy understanding how physical products work and exploring how technology can make them better.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship, now or in the future.
