Data Protection Support Officer

We are looking for a Data Protection Support Officer to join our team here at Greenwood Academies Trust!

Are you a data protection or records management professional looking for your next opportunity? Or are you someone who has worked with personal data in education for some time who is looking to specialise in data protection?

Greenwood Academies Trust is a large multi-academy trust based in Nottingham and serving schools across the East Midlands. With over 18,000 pupils and 3,000 staff, we handle a lot of personal data!

We want to be compliant, of course, but we want to go further than that, and become sector-leading in our approach to the culture and practices that surround our work with personal data.

For this reason, we have decided to expand our data protection team by creating this new role, which will report directly to the Data Protection Officer who is, in turn, part of our Corporate Affairs team.

You will use your knowledge of data protection in a busy environment to manage our day-to-day oversight of breaches, data subject requests and retention protocols. But you will also contribute more strategically to the ongoing development of a culture that places privacy by design at the heart of everything we do.

This is a home-based role, but the ability to travel to some or all of our sites is required so an East Midlands location would be preferable. A sound understanding of data protection principles and legislation is essential and, ideally, you will have some experience of, or interest in, education.

In return we have multiple benefits for our talented and highly valued people:

Alongside nationally agreed terms and conditions, we offer a generous benefits package. Here's a selection of what's on offer to our people in recognition of the huge difference they make to our children, their families and the communities we serve.

• Access to Benefit Hub - the world's largest discount marketplace
• A free Wellbeing Gateway platform and mobile app
• A free, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme - confidential & compassionate support when you need it
• Lease a brand-new or pre-loved hybrid vehicle through our Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme
• Train & qualify as a Mental Health First Aider. We aim to have a qualified Mental Health First Aider in each academy
• Supporting your professional development through CPD, Apprenticeships, Upskilling and Professional Review
• Generous public sector pension schemes for everyone
• Eye tests & Spectacles Discount
• Family friendly policies and time off for dependants
• Dedicated ECT support programme
• Access to savings in childcare costs
• Generous annual leave allocation
• Automatic pay progression
• Free parking on all sites
• Principles on workload & directed time for teaching staff
• Professional Supervision for Academy Leaders

The Trust welcomes applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, age or sexual orientation.

All applicants must be able to provide evidence of their Right to Work in the UK prior to commencement of employment. As part of our need to comply with UK immigration rules, you will be required to provide Home Office stipulated documentation prior to interview.
