Site Assistant Opportunity – Newbury

Education First is looking for a reliable, practical and proactive Site Assistant to join a secondary school in Newbury.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on work and takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well‑presented school environment.

The successful candidate will support the day‑to‑day running of the school site, carrying out general maintenance, porterage and site duties, while also supporting the school's transport service.

The Role

• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Supporting redecoration and upkeep of school buildings
• Helping maintain a safe and secure school site
• Setting up and moving furniture and equipment
• Assisting with room moves and school events
• Keeping external areas clean, safe and well maintained
• Carrying out litter picking and waste collection
• Supporting gritting and maintaining safe access routes during poor weather
• Helping keep drains and external areas free from obstructions
• Removing graffiti and dealing with other external maintenance issues
• Supporting the opening and closing of the school site
• Driving the school minibus when required

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in premises, site maintenance or facilities
• Practical skills and the ability to carry out general repairs
• A good understanding of health and safety procedures
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
• Good organisational and time management skills
• The ability to work independently and use initiative
• A flexible approach to supporting the needs of the school
• A clean and valid driving licence with D1 entitlement
• A professional and reliable approach
• Previous experience working within a school or education environment would be desirable.

Working Hours & Pay

Full‑time
£135 per day
Secondary school in Newbury
Immediate start

The role may require some flexibility around site opening, closing, school events and lettings.
