Dispensing Optician

Dispensing Optician – Coventry

£34,000–£36,000 + Bonus – 4-5 days a week available

YOU MUST BE A GOC REGISTERED DISPENSING OPTICIAN OR YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED

Are You a Commercially Minded Dispensing Optician?

This is a little different from your standard Dispensing Optician vacancy.

We’re working with an established high‑street optical practice in Coventry looking for an experienced, ambitious DO who wants to have a genuine impact on the business.

They don’t simply want somebody to dispense and go home at the end of the day. They’re looking for someone that can build relationships with customers, spot opportunities, convert walk‑in enquiries and help drive the performance of the practice.

For the right person, there is even the potential to spend the next 12 months developing towards the opportunity of running and potentially owning their own store.

What They’re Looking For

You’ll need to be a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician , ideally with at least three years’ post‑qualification experience .

More importantly, you’ll be:

• Commercially aware, sales-focused and confident converting walk‑in enquiries
• Hungry, driven and interested in progressing your career
• Comfortable taking responsibility when the manager isn’t available
• Personable and able to build genuine relationships with customers
• Confident making suggestions and bringing new ideas to the business
• Able to think independently rather than waiting to be told what to do

The practice has a personal approach to optics. They want someone who can have a laugh with customers, get to know them and create the sort of relationships that keep people coming back.

Salary & Benefits

£34,000–£36,000 basic salary , depending on experience, plus:

• Individual performance‑related bonus
• Pension
• ABDO fees paid after 12 months
• Free glasses
• Loyalty bonuses
• Further training and development
• Potential pathway towards running and potentially owning a store

Opening hours are 9:00am–5:40pm during the week and 9:00am–5:00pm on Saturdays .

Why Consider It?

The attraction here is autonomy.

If you’re an experienced DO who feels capable of doing more than your current role allows, this gives you the opportunity to become commercially involved in a practice rather than simply working within one.

Your ideas will be listened to, you’ll be encouraged to think creatively, and there is a genuine appetite to develop the right person towards greater responsibility.
