Job DescriptionSenior Battery Design Engineer ARCA is supporting an aerospace programme to bring in an experienced Battery Design Engineer on a contract basis. This is a hands‑on role within the Battery team, focused on detailed mechanical design and design ownership across high-performance battery pack assemblies. The work:
Detailed mechanical design and development of battery pack assemblies
Design of housings, enclosures and internal battery components
Injection-moulded components, sheet metal, cast parts and sealing
Packaging and integration of HV components
Designing with consideration for creepage & clearance, busbars and electrical bolted joints
Supporting designs from concept through to manufacture and assembly
Working closely with electrical, manufacturing, analysis and wider engineering teams
What they’re looking for:
Strong mechanical / product design experience within battery, EV, automotive, aerospace or another complex engineering environment
Hands‑on detail design and design ownership experience
Experience with injection moulding, sheet metal, cast components and sealing
Good understanding of HV electrical considerations within mechanical design
Experience designing smaller-scale assemblies for manufacture
