Legal Secretary

Honeycomb is delighted to be partnering with an established legal practice in Belfast to recruit a Legal Secretary / Assistant to join its Family Law Department.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Working closely with Solicitors, you will provide secretarial and administrative support across a range of family law matters, helping to ensure the smooth running of the department and the delivery of excellent client service.

Family law experience would be a real advantage, although our client would certainly consider someone with a strong legal secretarial background in another area of law who is interested in making the move into family law.

The successful candidate will join a supportive team within the Family Law Department, playing an important role in the day-to-day running of the department and helping to deliver a high standard of client care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to Solicitors within the Family Law Department
• Preparing, formatting and proofreading legal documents and correspondence
• Managing client files and maintaining accurate records
• Handling sensitive and confidential client information with discretion and professionalism
• Communicating with clients, Solicitors, barristers and other third parties
• Managing diaries, appointments and arranging meetings
• Answering telephone calls and responding to client enquiries in a professional and empathetic manner
• Opening, maintaining and closing files in line with internal procedures
• Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
• Monitoring deadlines and assisting with the progression of family law matters
• Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the department

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience in a legal secretarial or legal administrative role
• Family law experience would be advantageous, but experience in another area of law will also be considered
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when preparing documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Professional, approachable and confident when dealing with clients
• A compassionate and understanding approach when handling sensitive family matters
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential information
