The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry to support anOlder Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in theNorth West.

This opportunity offers a long-term locum contract from December 2026 to May 2027,providing structured and consistent work within a community mental health setting. It is ideally suited to candidates with substantial experience inOld Age Psychiatry, a strong understanding of theMental Health Act, and Section 12 approval.

You will be working alongside established multidisciplinary teams, supporting the assessment, treatment, and ongoing care of older adult patients within community-based mental health services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality psychiatric care to older adult patients within a community mental health setting.
• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulate treatment plans.
• Support the ongoing management of patients with complex mental health needs.
• Apply knowledge of the Mental Health Act in clinical decision-making and patient care.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, social workers, psychologists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
• Participate in clinical reviews and contribute to service development where appropriate.
• Ensure safe, effective, and person-centred care is delivered at all times.

What We're Looking For

• Active GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Significant experience in Old Age Psychiatry.
• Section 12 (S12) Approval is essential.
• Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
• Recent NHS experience within Psychiatry services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent clinical judgement, communication, and professionalism.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship).
