£73946 - £99829/annum

Are you an experienced Earthing & Bonding Engineer with a strong understanding of railway systems integration?

Have you worked on major infrastructure projects, coordinating multiple engineering disciplines and ensuring safe, compliant electrical systems?

Salary (including 20% flexible benefits fund):

Birmingham: £73,946 to £92,434 per annum
London: £79,864 to per annum
Location: Birmingham or London, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, with occasional site visits
Contract: Permanent

I am recruiting for a Lead Earthing & Bonding Engineer to join HS2, taking responsibility for the technical leadership, integration and assurance of earthing and bonding across a major railway infrastructure programme.

This is a senior, client-side engineering position where the focus is on systems integration, multidisciplinary coordination and technical assurance rather than detailed design alone.

My client is looking for someone who understands how earthing and bonding requirements interact across the wider railway, including traction power, overhead line equipment, signalling, telecommunications, stations, tunnels and civil infrastructure.

You will act as a central technical point of contact, working with multiple contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure earthing and bonding requirements are consistently understood, coordinated and delivered.

This is a technical leadership role without direct line management responsibilities, requiring someone who can influence engineering decisions, challenge designs and bring different disciplines together to agree practical solutions.

Essential Requirements

Strong earthing and bonding experience gained within rail, electrical power or major infrastructure projects.
Demonstrable experience coordinating engineering requirements across multiple disciplines, contractors and complex systems.
Experience in technical assurance, design reviews, engineering integration or managing technical delivery.
Good working knowledge of relevant standards, particularly BS EN (phone number removed), BS 7671 and BS EN 62305 for lightning protection.
Ability to challenge technical proposals, resolve engineering interfaces and influence stakeholders.
Experience working with multiple suppliers, consultants and engineering teams on complex infrastructure projects.
Relevant engineering degree or equivalent substantial industry experience.
Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
Desirable Requirements

Experience on major railway programmes such as Crossrail, HS2, Network Rail enhancements or significant electrification and power upgrade projects.
Broad earthing and bonding experience across traction power, OLE, signalling, telecommunications, substations and railway infrastructure.
Experience in earthing and bonding design, modelling or electrical safety assessments.
Previous experience as a Senior, Principal or Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager or Technical Authority.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
Involvement in industry working groups, technical committees or standards development.
Experience in a client-side engineering or technical assurance environment.
This is an opportunity to take a leading technical role on a nationally significant rail infrastructure programme, influencing how earthing and bonding is integrated across complex railway systems.

How to Apply

If you have strong earthing and bonding experience and enjoy tackling complex engineering integration challenges, I'd be keen to hear from you.
