The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy food manufacturing operation, playing a key role in keeping production running safely, efficiently and reliably.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on fault finding, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll work closely with production and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime, improve equipment performance and support the ongoing development of site machinery and processes.

With the choice of permanent day or night shifts, with no rotation, this role offers the opportunity to find a working pattern that suits you.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of production equipment, including conveyors, packaging machinery and processing equipment. You’ll respond to breakdowns, diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, and carry out planned preventative maintenance to help maximise equipment reliability and minimise disruption to production.

You’ll also support the installation and commissioning of new machinery, automation upgrades and site projects, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis to prevent recurring faults.

Other responsibilities will include:

Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work, repairs and equipment modifications.

Working alongside production teams to improve efficiency and equipment performance.

Supervising third-party contractors on site.

Supporting audits, inspections and risk assessments.

Ensuring all work complies with health and safety requirements, electrical regulations and food safety standards, including BRC and HACCP.

Contributing to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement programmes.

About You

You’ll be a qualified, hands-on Maintenance Engineer with experience working in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment. You’ll have strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and respond effectively to production issues.

Ideally, you’ll have:

NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or an equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Strong electrical knowledge, alongside multiskilled maintenance capabilities.

Experience with industrial automation, PLCs and electrical drawings or schematics.

Experience with preventative maintenance systems.

A good understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and manufacturing standards.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods, such as Kaizen or TPM.

Good communication skills and the confidence to work with internal teams and external contractors.

What’s on Offer?

£49,000 salary for day shifts.

Approximately £53,000 for night shifts, including an estimated £4,000 shift allowance, payable only when working nights.

A choice of days or nights, with no rotating shift pattern.
