Senior Litigation Solicitor – Consumer Financial Claims

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Litigation Solicitor to join a growing specialist practice focused on consumer financial claims.This is a senior, hands-on position offering substantial responsibility for the conduct and strategic direction of a significant caseload of consumer financial claims, including matters progressing through FCA redress schemes and County Court litigation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Partner, taking ownership of matters, developing litigation strategies, supervising junior colleagues and engaging directly with lenders and their legal advisers.

You will also play an important role in developing new areas of consumer financial claims, helping to assess emerging opportunities and build the legal processes, precedents and workflows required to handle claims effectively at scale.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage and supervise consumer financial claims from initial assessment through to resolution.
• Handle FCA redress scheme submissions, challenges to lender decisions, Financial Ombudsman referrals and court proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategies for lender-specific claim cohorts, including lead-case selection, pleadings, disclosure and settlement approaches.
• Advise clients clearly on merits, prospects and appropriate routes for pursuing claims.
• Draft and develop pleadings, precedents, templates and client communications.
• Ensure documentation remains accurate and compliant as the regulatory landscape develops.
• Identify and assess emerging consumer financial claim types, including potential claims involving lending, insurance and financial mis-selling.
• Help develop new claim types from initial legal theory through to scalable and compliant processes.
• Supervise paralegals and junior lawyers, reviewing work and contributing to quality assurance and file-review procedures.
• Liaise with lenders, counsel, auditors and other relevant parties.
• Support senior management on strategic, regulatory and funding-related matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and outcomes across high-volume litigation.

About You

• Qualification as a Solicitor of England & Wales with 5+ years' PQE, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong civil and commercial litigation experience.
• Experience handling contractual disputes, company matters and the Civil Procedure Rules at a senior level.
• Previous experience acting for consumers in financial claims, such as motor finance, PPI, irresponsible lending or other FCA-regulated redress matters.
• Good knowledge of the FCA complaints and redress landscape, including DISP.
• Strong drafting skills and the ability to make sound decisions independently.
• Experience of group, multi-claimant or omnibus litigation would be advantageous but is not essential.
• The ability to supervise and develop junior members of a legal team.
• A senior position with significant responsibility and direct access to the Managing Partner.
