About Us
Founded in 2018 and proudly based in Hillsborough, Sheffield Mobility is a family-run business at the heart of the local community.
With over 500 five-star reviews, our mission is simple: to support our customers’ independence by providing the right mobility equipment, tailored to their individual needs.
As we continue to grow in 2027 and beyond, we’re looking for a skilled, reliable and practical Workshop Engineer to join our team.
Why Join Us?
About the Role
This is a predominantly workshop-based engineering role at our Hillsborough showroom.
You’ll work closely with the management team and our mobile engineer to maintain, service, repair and prepare a wide range of mobility equipment.
The role will involve a mixture of walk-in customer repairs, fault diagnosis, servicing, refurbishment and preparing used equipment for resale, with additional field support provided to our mobile engineer when required.
Your main focus will be ensuring that equipment is safe, reliable, correctly repaired and ready for use.
Typical Responsibilities
About You
We’re looking for someone who is practical, technically minded and enjoys solving problems.
The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical or electrical diagnostics, maintenance or repairing similar equipment.
We’re particularly interested in someone who can diagnose a fault, understand why something has failed and work out the best way to repair it.
You should be:
Experienced in mechanical and/or electrical fault finding and diagnostics-no qualifications necessary
Practical and confident using tools and workshop equipment.
Comfortable working with low voltage electrical and mechanical systems.
Methodical and logical when diagnosing faults.
Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
A clear communicator with good attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a flexible, hands-on team environment.
Willing to learn and develop specialist mobility engineering knowledge.
Passionate about producing quality workmanship.
Genuinely motivated by helping people and making a positive difference to their independence.
Mobility Experience
Previous experience working with mobility equipment would be a major advantage, but it isn’t essential.
We would also welcome applications from people with experience in areas such as:
Vending machine repairs
Push bike technician
Automotive or vehicle repair
Mechanical engineering
Electronics
Appliance repair
General engineering or maintenance
Other technical or diagnostic roles
Training will be provided to the right candidate, particularly around mobility-specific equipment, products and procedures.
Electrical & Diagnostic Skills
Experience diagnosing electrical faults would be particularly valuable.
Knowledge of batteries, motors, controllers, wiring, electrical circuits and electronic components would be an advantage.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys fault-finding and has the ability to work through a problem logically to identify the underlying cause.
Schedule & Flexibility
We open 6 days per week, Monday to Saturday, 9-5
We are happy to discuss working patterns with the right person.
Ready to Apply?
If you’re a practical and technically minded engineer who enjoys fixing things, diagnosing faults and producing high-quality work, we’d love to hear from you.
Please submit your CV along with answers to the following:
1. How many years of experience do you have servicing, repairing or maintaining mechanical/electrical equipment?
2. Do you have experience diagnosing electrical faults? If so, please briefly explain.
3. Do you have experience working with mobility equipment or similar products?
