Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Female PE Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in the Colne area. This is a full-time maternity cover position starting in November 2026, offering an excellent opportunity to inspire pupils and promote an active, healthy lifestyle.

This is a fantastic opportunity to teach Physical Education across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging practical lessons and supporting pupils to develop their sporting skills, confidence and teamwork.

Job Title: Female PE Teacher

Contract Type: Full-time, maternity cover

Daily Rate: £168.80 – £215.68, depending on experience

About the PE Teacher Role

Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons across KS3 and KS4

Plan and prepare lessons to meet a range of abilities and fitness levels

Teach a variety of sports and physical activities

Promote teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles

Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback

Maintain high standards of behaviour and ensure pupils' safety during practical lessons

Encourage participation and engagement in physical activity

Work collaboratively with the PE department and contribute to wider school sporting activities

The Ideal PE Teacher Will

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification

Have experience teaching PE at secondary level

Be confident delivering practical lessons across a range of sports and activities

Demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills

Be committed to supporting the progress and development of all pupils

Be committed to safeguarding children and young people

Provide details of the two most recent references, covering the last five years' work history

Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of registration

Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy the required safeguarding and compliance checks
