We are working with an established Machines Manufacturing company based in Saltash, UK.

Due to continuing growth, they are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join their team.

Are you a technically minded person who enjoys talking to customers, solving problems and getting hands-on with equipment?

We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join a small, high-performing Business Development team.

This is a varied role sitting right at the centre of the business. You'll combine technical sales, customer engagement, quotation, engineering support and practical equipment development, working closely with teams across Engineering, Technical Services, R&D, Technical Development and beyond.

Key Responsibilities include:

You'll be involved throughout the customer journey, from the initial conversation through to quotation, order and eventually equipment demonstration and commissioning.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing product costings from Bills of Materials.
• Preparing quotations for standard equipment.
• Talking directly with customers to understand their applications and manufacturing processes.
• Developing quotations for non-standard and bespoke equipment.
• Creating CAD-based process diagrams to demonstrate equipment capability.
• Supporting spare parts quotations.
• Supporting sales order processing.
• Working with Engineering and technical teams to develop appropriate solutions.
• Getting hands-on with our equipment and developing a strong practical understanding of how it works.
• Developing towards carrying out customer demonstrations and commissioning of standard equipment.

Requirements:

We're looking for someone who combines technical ability with commercial awareness and a practical, proactive attitude.

You might already be working in technical sales, sales engineering, applications engineering or a similar role. Or you could have a strong engineering/technical background and be looking to move into a more customer-facing and commercially focused position.

Skills & Experience:

• Technically curious and keen to understand how things work.
• Comfortable speaking with customers and asking questions about their applications.
• Highly organised and administratively strong.
• Accurate when preparing quotations, costings and orders.
• Comfortable working with CAD and technical information.
• A confident communicator.
• Collaborative and able to coordinate across multiple departments.
• Commercially aware and able to identify opportunities.
• Willing to get hands-on with equipment.
• Proactive about your own development and keen to take ownership.

Desirable Requirements:

Experience with advanced composites?

That would be a big advantage.

In particular, knowledge of Direct Infusion, RTM or other advanced composite manufacturing processes would be highly beneficial. Experience with industrial equipment, manufacturing processes or technical equipment would also be relevant.

You'll have the opportunity to work across the business, develop a broad understanding of products and processes, build relationships directly with customers and see opportunities through from the initial conversation to real-world equipment.
