Role: Senior Project Engineer

Location: Harlow, Middlesbrough, Daresbury or Thornton-Cleveleys

Contract: 12 months

Start Date: November 2026

Workscope

The Senior Project Engineer will work alongside our multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams, leading projects from concept through to completion whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, cost control and client satisfaction. The scope is for a 12 month duration and can be based in either our Middlesbrough, Daresbury. Harlow or Thornton-Cleveleys offices.

Services to be provided

• Develop project execution strategies, schedules and budgets.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate project activities.
• Maintain project controls, monitoring progress against scope, cost and programme.
• Manage client relationships and act as the primary point of contact.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
• Support commercial management, change control and reporting activities.
• Lead project meetings and provide clear communication to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements and relevant legislation.
• Project Planning and Design: Developing project scopes, designing chemical processes, and creating detailed engineering plans
• Project Management and Coordination for small projects: Overseeing project timelines, managing budgets, and coordinating cross-functional teams
• Quality Control and Assurance: Ensuring compliance with industry standards and conducting testing and validation processes.
• Technical Expertise: Applying knowledge of chemical processes, materials, and equipment to optimize project outcomes and solve engineering challenges.
• Compliance Management: Ensuring all project activities adhere to industry regulatory requirements, environmental standards and safety protocols.

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Demonstrable experience delivering projects within the process industries, including sectors such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, energy or similar.
• Strong understanding of project lifecycle management.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules and resources.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate effectively across all project functions.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Previous experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer in the UK onshore Process Sector
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and project controls methodologies.
• Experience managing design engineering and construction activities.
• Professional membership or working towards chartership is desirable.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and process industry standards.
