Put Your Fluid Power Expertise to Work in a New Way
Are you an experienced maintenance engineer with a strong background in hydraulics and pneumatics, looking for a role where your knowledge can shape the next generation of engineers? Combining hands-on engineering expertise with teaching, coaching, and assessment, this is a genuinely fulfilling dual role for someone ready to take their career in an exciting new direction — or build on existing experience in vocational education.
What We're Looking For

A relevant engineering qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering

GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)

Proven industry experience as a maintenance engineer with strong, practical knowledge of fluid power systems — hydraulics and pneumatics — including pumps, valves, actuators, compressors, and control systems

Experience of fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical and fluid systems

The ability to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging theoretical and practical training sessions

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support learners at all levels

Good record-keeping, organisational skills, and a commitment to quality and compliance

A teaching qualification (e.g. AET) or assessing qualification (e.g. CAVA) is desirable — training towards these is available and fully funded for the right candidate

Knowledge of PLCs, automated systems, or current fluid power technologies would be a welcome advantage
