Methodology — Verifera NHS Pay & Healthcare Salary Index

Issue: July 2026 · Accountable analyst: Sizar Doski, Founder · Cadence: monthly — first Tuesday of each month.

What the index measures

Advertised permanent base salaries for NHS and healthcare occupations across six UK regions (London, South East, Midlands, North West, Yorkshire, Scotland), published monthly, anchored against the public NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) pay scales.

Data sources

1. Live postings (market rates). Salaried, region-tagged, annual-unit postings on Verifera. Each posting contributes the midpoint of its advertised range. Percentiles (p25 / median / p75) are computed per role×region cell from those midpoints only. Listing data is sourced in part from the Adzuna job feed (display licence, attributed); this index publishes only aggregate derived statistics, never the listings themselves. Salaries marked as estimated by the source are included (advertised-rate measurement) and disclosed per cell.

Sample floors and suppression

• A role×region cell is published only when n ≥ 5 live salaried postings back it. Below the floor the cell is shown as suppressed with its actual n — it is never interpolated, padded, or backfilled.
• Every published figure carries its per-cell n.
• Verifera's curated editorial salary-guide ranges are excluded from all market figures: only observed postings count toward n.
• An issue is release-ready only when at least 1 cell(s) clear the floor; otherwise every document in the issue carries a do-not-publish banner.

Month-on-month comparisons

A delta is published only when the same role×region cell clears the floor in two consecutive calendar months. No comparison is made against suppressed or curated cells, and gaps are never bridged.

Revision policy

Each issue is a frozen snapshot taken at pull time (raw snapshots are retained). If a figure is later found to be wrong it is restated in the next issue with an explicit correction note — silent edits are not made.
