£70,000–£90,000

IT Infrastructure Operations Leader required on a 12-month fixed term contract to lead an infrastructure engineering team within a leading international organisation in Glasgow. This is a key role responsible for supporting a global team of Infrastructure engineers, whilst overseeing the delivery of critical IT Infrastructure Services, driving operational stability, and ensuring the organisation’s technology foundations continue to evolve in line with business needs.

The Organisation

This is a global organisation with a strong focus on using technology to support innovation, collaboration, and business growth. The organisation continues to invest in modernising its technology landscape, with an appetite for adopting innovative solutions, embracing automation, and using emerging technologies to improve how teams operate.

With a cloud-first mindset and a focus on scalable, secure, and efficient services, the technology function is continually exploring new ways to enhance performance, resilience, and user experience. Data and AI are becoming increasingly important areas of focus, supporting smarter decision-making and enabling new opportunities across the organisation.

The organisation is committed to building a forward-thinking technology environment where teams are encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, adopt new approaches, and deliver solutions that create meaningful impact.

The Role

You will take a leading role in managing and developing a global infrastructure engineering team, ensuring engineers are supported, priorities are effectively managed, and technology services are delivered to a consistently high standard.

This role sits at the intersection of people leadership, service delivery, and operational improvement. You will help create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, while ensuring the team has the structure, direction, and support required to deliver effectively.

While this isn’t a hands-on engineering position, you’ll need a strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments and the operational challenges involved in supporting them. You’ll provide direction to engineers, oversee BAU activities, manage competing priorities and ensure incidents, changes and technical initiatives are delivered effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT leader with a background in infrastructure, service delivery, or technical operations who enjoys developing teams, improving processes, and making a visible impact within a global technology environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and developing an infrastructure engineering team, providing coaching, performance management and regular 1-2-1s.
  • Overseeing the delivery of infrastructure services across server, compute, networking, storage, backup and collaboration environments.
  • Managing BAU activities, technical escalations and smaller infrastructure initiatives, ensuring work is prioritised and allocated effectively.
  • Monitoring service performance against SLAs and KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and addressing service delivery challenges.
  • Ensuring infrastructure changes follow appropriate change management, security and operational processes, minimising disruption to business services.
  • Identifying and managing operational risks, technical dependencies and resource constraints.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and providing confidence around service performance and improvements.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reliability, and the overall delivery of infrastructure services

What They’re Looking For

  • Proven experience leading infrastructure, IT operations or technical support teams
  • A strong technical understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, ideally covering server and compute environments, networking, storage, backups and collaboration technologies.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with a track record of developing and motivating technical teams
  • Experience delivering high-quality IT services within a complex organisation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive improvements in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and business teams
  • Experience managing escalations and ensuring successful outcomes
  • Understanding of IT service management principles and operational processes
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, or similar would be beneficial

The Offer

You’ll receive a competitive salary and benefits package, hybrid working (typically 3 days in a city centre office), and the opportunity to work within a highly regarded global organisation investing heavily in modern technologies. This is initially offered as a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is an opportunity to join a global technology function and play a key role in shaping how infrastructure services are delivered. You will have the opportunity to lead an established engineering team, improve operational maturity, and make a tangible impact on the reliability and effectiveness of technology services across the organisation.
