Manager, Incident Management
Cardiff
The role leads NRW's incident and emergency work, both internally and externally.
The role leads NRW's incident and emergency work, both internally and externally. NRW has duties and responsibilities to plan for and respond to environmental related incidents and emergencies, across the range of NRW's activities in the environmental sector.
The role leads on policy, strategy and guidance in incident and emergencies management, and leading on providing the framework for effective operational delivery. You will line manage and work directly with the Team Leader for a central national team of currently 9 advisors, and indirectly with a wide range of subject matter experts and operational staff from across the whole of NRW. The role also requires leading the interface with key external partners, such as Welsh and UK Governments and other Civil Contingencies Act partner organisations, to both help shape Wales' national response to incidents and emergencies, and to implement the national requirements within NRW. It will require assessing and developing our responses to the ever-changing threats and hazards in a risk-based manner, commensurate with our duties and the resources available.
The role also requires leadership on Business Continuity Management (BCM) in NRW, working with a senior advisor who reports directly to this advertised post. The requirement here is to provide the framework for effective BCM across NRW. The role currently therefore has 2 direct reportees - this BCM post and the Team Leader post - in order to deliberately free it up from lots of line management so that it can operate in a strategic, influencing and delivery capacity, both internally and externally.
This is a senior level managerial post and is a national figurehead for NRW in this area. It will represent NRW at a range of senior level forums. It reports to the Head of Flood and Incident Risk Management. The base location is flexible at one of our offices within Wales, and the team is dispersed across Wales. The role will require some travel for meetings and other events, but as for all of NRW, alot of work is done remotely and via Teams.
