Senior Quantity Surveyor

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Chelmsford team, working on National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme. The role covers commercial responsibility for allocated areas of the project, including cost, cash flow and margin performance. The page also lists Dartford as a location.

The appointment involves negotiating subcontracts and commercial agreements, handling claims and administering packages during delivery. Responsibilities include pricing changes, managing valuations and payments, and advising the project team on contractual obligations. Monthly reporting covers costs, forecasts and contract reviews.

The surveyor will help establish budgets at contract award and maintain them as work progresses, while identifying commercial risks and discussing them with the wider team. Applicants need a quantity surveying degree and experience administering live subcontract packages under NEC contracts. The advert seeks experience on power, energy or infrastructure projects, alongside communication and stakeholder management skills.

RICS membership is desirable rather than mandatory. The role also includes mentoring Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
