You do not need formal teaching or culinary qualifications for this role - what matters most is your genuine passion for food, hands‑on cooking and baking experience, and the ability to run engaging, fun sessions for our students.

About the Role

Cooking and baking are among the most popular co-curricular and weekend activities at the School. As an Activity Instructor, you will lead practical, fun, and age-appropriate culinary sessions that teach students essential life skills, kitchen confidence, and delicious recipes.

Whether leading a beginner's baking class, a global cuisine workshop, or a weekend bake-off competition, you will create an encouraging, organised, and safe environment.

Located within our beautiful 260-acre Gatton Park estate, this role offers flexible casual hours that can fit around your existing work, studies, or personal commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and run engaging, practical cookery and baking workshops for groups of Junior and Senior students.
  2. Maintain impeccable hygiene standards, ensuring all food prep, allergen management, and kitchen clean-downs comply with food safety regulations.
  3. Organise ingredients, utensils, and workstations prior to sessions, ensuring equipment is used safely and correctly by students.
  4. Build positive, encouraging relationships with students, fostering team building, confidence, and a love for culinary arts.
  5. Maintain a safe environment and uphold school child protection policies at all times.

We are looking for someone who:

  1. Has proven practical experience in cooking and baking (formal culinary qualifications are not required).
  2. Holds a valid Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (or is willing to complete it prior to starting).
  3. Connects naturally with young people, bringing energy, patience, and warmth to every session.
  4. Has strong organisational skills and a vigilant approach to kitchen safety, hygiene, and allergen awareness.
  5. Embodies our core values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, and Respect.

Why Join Us?

  1. Flexible Hours: Fits smoothly around other commitments or portfolio work.
  2. Vibrant Boarding Environment: Work in a warm, welcoming community where creative and practical activities are highly valued.
  3. Inspiring Location: Set within 260 acres of historic Surrey countryside.
