We are looking for an experienced Energy Economist to join our growing UK Economic Advisory (EA) practice, with a focus on the energy transition, investment decisions, energy markets and modelling. The analysis and insights provided by the Energy Economics practice within EA are central to Deloitte's most complex client decisions across Energy, Resources & Industrials (ER&I) and infrastructure investment. EA sits within the Infrastructure & Real Estate (IRE) practice, and the team supports projects across Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory and Deloitte's broader ER&I practice. You will help clients navigate the transition to net zero, major infrastructure investment decisions and rapidly evolving energy markets.
Deloitte drives progress. Using our vast range of expertise, we help our clients' become leaders wherever they choose to compete. To do this, we invest in outstanding people. We build teams of future thinkers, with diverse talents and backgrounds, and empower them all to reach for and achieve more.
What brings us all together at Deloitte? It's how we approach the thousands of decisions we make every day. How we behave, our beliefs and our attitudes. In other words: our values. Whatever we do, wherever we are in the world, we lead the way , serve with integrity , take care of each other , foster inclusion , and collaborate for measurable impact . These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.
Our Energy Economics team provides advice where energy markets, public policy, regulation and commercial strategy intersect. We help clients understand market developments, design and assess policy and regulatory interventions, evaluate investments, and make evidence-based decisions under uncertainty. This Manager role is central to our growth: you will lead high-quality client delivery while helping shape our energy-transition proposition and commercial pipeline.
As a Manager, you will take ownership of projects from scoping through to delivery, translate complex analysis into clear advice for senior stakeholders, and maintain trusted client relationships. You will coach junior colleagues, contribute to a supportive team culture and play an active role in winning work, developing propositions and growing our profile in the energy-transition market.
You will bring a strong grounding in economics, quantitative analysis or a closely related discipline, typically supported by a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent. We expect candidates to hold a master's degree, above or equivalent in economics and to have approximately proven relevant professional experience, although we will consider the depth, relevance and progression of experience rather than applying a rigid threshold.
Additional experience that would be advantageous includes:
This is an important delivery role with strong potential for progression and the opportunity to support the team's growth. You will manage client engagements, advise senior stakeholders and help develop our people and the wider Energy Economics practice, including our investment and modelling propositions. You will have substantial ownership of delivery and team management and will contribute to business development.
In this role, you will:
In an ever-evolving world, there are no certainties in business. Our teams help clients to navigate risks, process major transactions and deliver transformational change that will future-proof their business. Join us to make a positive difference.
The experts in our teams in Strategy and Business Design are trusted advisors to CEOs and their wider organisations. Whether that's launching a new arm of a business, anticipating new and emerging risks or collaborating with other teams, we work on a huge range of varied projects.
Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your “Immediate Family Members” are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process or you can contact the Independence team upon request.
“At Deloitte you’re surrounded by subject matter experts; industry experts, technology experts, and you can access that knowledge whenever you need to.” -Christian, Risk & Transactions Advisory
