Dispute Resolution Solicitor/Associate - Essex

A well-established and highly regarded regional Legal 500 law firm is looking to recruit a Dispute Resolution Solicitor or Associate to join its growing team in Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Lawyer with around 3-6 years' PQE who is looking for a broad and varied litigation role, working closely with experienced Partners while continuing to develop their own caseload and client relationships.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • High-quality and varied litigation work
  • Strong Partner support and mentoring
  • Clear career progression opportunities
  • 25 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Additional Christmas closure
  • Pension scheme
  • Income protection and death in service
  • Health cash plan and employee assistance programme
  • Ongoing learning and development support

The role

You will advise businesses, owner-managed companies and private clients across a broad range of contentious matters, including:

  • Contractual disputes
  • Partnership and shareholder disputes
  • Professional negligence claims
  • Insolvency-related disputes
  • Property litigation
  • Construction disputes, where relevant to your experience

You will manage your own matters alongside assisting Partners on more complex and high-value disputes, with involvement from initial instruction through to settlement or litigation.

The role will also involve:

  • Advising clients on strategy, risk, costs and potential outcomes
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and correspondence
  • Conducting settlement negotiations and mediation
  • Managing court deadlines and Civil Procedure Rules requirements
  • Developing strong client relationships
  • Supporting business development and networking activity
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider firm

About you

You will ideally be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with approximately 3-6 years' PQE in commercial litigation or general dispute resolution.

You should have:

  • Experience handling contractual disputes
  • Exposure to negligence or professional negligence claims
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedure and the CPR
  • Experience managing your own caseload and dealing directly with clients
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to resolving disputes

Experience in property litigation, construction disputes, shareholder/partnership disputes or insolvency litigation would be advantageous, although candidates do not need experience across every area.

This would suit a Dispute Resolution Solicitor looking to join a successful regional practice where they can broaden their experience, take on greater responsibility and continue progressing their career.
