Marine Conservation Society is a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean – defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments and industry, and champion science‑based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency.
This is a standout opportunity for a fisheries manager with a background in marine/environmental conservation to join our mission‑led organisation.
In this highly rewarding role, you’ll have the chance to influence real‑world change at a national level, helping protect marine ecosystems whilst growing your expertise and advancing your knowledge of the sector.
In return, you’ll discover a flexible, supportive work environment with plenty of scope for creativity, a generous and thoughtfully designed benefits package, and the freedom and flexibility of a remote‑first working model that recognises people do their best work when trust, balance and wellbeing come first.
As Fisheries Project Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the sustainable management of fisheries, ensuring that seafood sourcing is transparent, traceable and environmentally responsible.
Specifically, you will lead the charge in developing our fisheries conservation policy, advocating for low‑impact practices and working closely with both the UK government and industry stakeholders to promote sustainable fisheries.
You’ll be the voice of sustainable fisheries, ensuring your passion affects others at events, within the media and through forums. Responding to consultations, you’ll provide clear, evidence‑based positions on fishery issues, and lead research projects and pilot initiatives to drive change.
