Remote Contracts Lawyer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proficient Contracts Lawyer to join their legal team on a fully remote basis, with administrative ties to East London . This role is critical for the meticulous drafting, review, and negotiation of all commercial agreements across the organization. You will ensure that contracts are legally sound, commercially viable, and align with the company’s strategic objectives and risk appetite. The ideal candidate will thrive in an independent work environment, possess exceptional attention to detail, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders remotely. This is an excellent opportunity to focus on contract law within a supportive, forward-thinking legal department.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including service agreements, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
• Provide expert legal advice on contractual terms, risks, and obligations.
• Ensure contracts comply with relevant South African laws and company policies.
• Maintain and manage a central repository of all company contracts.
• Collaborate with business units to understand their contractual needs and provide timely legal support.

Requirements

• Admitted attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience specializing in contract law.
• Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Thorough understanding of contract law principles and best practices.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a high volume of work remotely with minimal supervision.
