Commercial Business Analyst Responsibilities
Baselining current-state operations, covering cost, volume, errors and time, to give every value claim a starting point
Building quantified business cases, weighing best case against realistic value with sensitivity analysis on key assumptions
Modelling realised, not just potential, value, adjusting for adoption, effectiveness and integration
Advising on build-vs-buy decisions, with clear reasoning behind each call
Connecting every solution to client OKRs and board-level metrics, translating operational gains into cost and margin terms
Tracking benefits against baseline through pilots, so impact is proven with evidence rather than assumption
Contributing to go/adjust/stop decisions, including making the honest case to stop
Delivering classic BA work on established engagements: requirements elicitation, process analysis and documentation
Turning engagement evidence into reusable value benchmarks and proof points for future work
Commercial Business Analyst Requirements
A strong business analysis foundation: requirements elicitation, process mapping, structured interviews, workshops and clear written synthesis
Business case and financial modelling experience, including benefits identification, quantification and realisation tracking
Analytical rigour with imperfect data, producing defensible numbers with honest confidence bounds
Commercial awareness of how consulting engagements are priced, scoped and protected from drift
A confident communicator, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders up to board level
Solid AI literacy, able to challenge feasibility claims and understand what drives adoption of AI tools
A sharp eye for spotting and scoping the next opportunity
