Account Director – Social Housing

UK-wide / Hybrid, with regular national travel

We are working with an established UK facilities management provider to appoint an Account Director responsible for its growing social-housing portfolio.

This is a senior operational and commercial leadership role, with responsibility for delivering high-quality facilities services across a geographically dispersed portfolio of housing associations and residential communities.

Reporting to a senior divisional leader, you will take ownership of client relationships, operational performance, financial results and service improvement. You will also help shape the organisation’s wider proposition and growth within the social-housing market.

The role

You will:

• Lead the operational and commercial performance of a portfolio of social-housing contracts.
• Develop trusted relationships with housing associations, local authorities and other key stakeholders.
• Take responsibility for contract budgets, profitability, forecasting and financial performance.
• Lead, support and develop geographically dispersed operational teams.
• Ensure services consistently meet agreed KPIs, contractual commitments and resident expectations.
• Oversee contract mobilisations, service transitions and the introduction of new ways of working.
• Identify opportunities for contract growth, service expansion and improved commercial performance.
• Work closely with business development and bid teams on retentions, extensions and new opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and operational consistency across the portfolio.
• Ensure the effective management of health and safety, compliance, risk and service governance.
• Champion a resident-focused approach, recognising that services are being delivered in and around people’s homes.
• Support the delivery of meaningful social value within the communities served.

About you

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have worked for an outsourced facilities management, cleaning, grounds maintenance or estate-services provider delivering contracts for housing associations, local authorities or residential communities.

You are likely to bring:

• Senior contract, account or operational leadership experience within outsourced facilities management.
• Experience delivering soft FM services such as cleaning, caretaking, grounds maintenance, estate services or associated support services.
• A strong understanding of the social-housing environment and the expectations of residents and housing-sector clients.
• Experience managing sizeable, multi-site or geographically dispersed contracts.
• Commercial and financial responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting and management of contract profitability.
• Evidence of building successful, long-term client relationships.
• Experience leading operational managers and large frontline workforces.
• The ability to improve underperforming services and introduce consistent operational standards.
• Strong communication, stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills.
• The flexibility to travel throughout the UK when required.
