This role combines hands‑on, person‑centred care with the added responsibility expected from an experienced member of the care team.

Job description

As a Senior Care Assistant with Superior Healthcare, you’ll remain closely involved in delivering care while acting as a positive example for other team members.

You’ll understand the individual care plans, routines and clinical guidance in detail and help support consistency across our packages. This is a mobile role, requiring travel between Whitstable, Herne Bay, Thanet, Canterbury, and surrounding areas, providing essential overnight support where it is needed most.

Working independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care is delivered to every client.

To be successful in this role, you must have previous hands‑on experience with PEG feeding and gastrostomy care, tracheostomy care and management, and ventilation support.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential due to the travel requirements of this position.

Shifts

Typically 10-12 hour waking or sleeping night shifts with optional overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, person-centred complex care
To provide care interventions: personal care, medication administration, tracheostomy care, PEG feeding, stoma care, and ventilator support
To support new members of staff with shadow shifts and induction
Follow and help maintain consistency with care plans
Promote dignity, independence, choice and quality of life
Model safe and professional care practice for colleagues
Support less experienced team members where this forms part of the role
Monitor wellbeing and escalat changes or concerns appropriately
Maintain accurate care records and clear communication
Work closely with care colleagues, families and other professionals
Support a positive and consistent culture within the care package

Requirements

Experience with tracheostomy, PEG and ventilation care
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Minimum of 12 months UK care experience
Possession of, or willingness to work towards, a level 3 NVQ qualification or similar
Full right to work in the UK
Strong communication, observation and organisational skills
A calm, dependable and person-centred approach
Experience supporting or mentoring care colleagues
