Mewburn Ellis is the forward-looking IP firm. We have recently made a significant investment in substantially enhancing our existing patent litigation practice. Our early investment focus has been on life sciences litigation, where our deep technical expertise, integrated UPC and UK litigation offering, and long-standing client relationships give us a strong platform for further growth. Despite being in place for less than a year, our life sciences litigation practice is already representing large pharma and biotech clients in UK High Court and UPC proceedings, alongside our existing body of active litigation in both venues. We are now investing further in our IP litigation growth plan, including through the recruitment of a dedicated SEP/FRAND litigator partner, complementing our current litigation capabilities and strengthening our position as trusted advisers to clients navigating complex, high-value IP disputes.

The role

We’re looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial junior IP Litigator (a UK solicitor, UK barrister or qualified European lawyer of 0-3 years PQE or equivalent) to join our legal team, as part of our rapid expansion plans to meet significant demand.

Expect to get directly involved in active UPC and UK litigation (including for global pharma and biotech clients), advisory work and even pitches. This is predominantly a pharma and life sciences role, but with opportunity for exposure to technology-focused patents, trade mark and trade secret disputes. You’ll have direct exposure to a diverse client base from day one, ranging from start-ups to large multi-nationals and be part of an evolving, energetic and dynamic team.

About you

An enquiring, solution-orientated mind and a high-quality focus are a few traits we look for. It is critical that you are qualified and ideally have a life sciences academic background or have had decent exposure to patent litigation ideally in the life sciences area. Along with technical expertise and experience, you’ll possess the ability to manage a variety of relationships and a varied workload, prioritising accordingly. Being personable and approachable, with a willingness to continuously learn will also be key.
