Business Development Executive – Engineering / Rotating Equipment

Are you a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building relationships, developing new opportunities and turning enquiries into orders?

We are working with an established engineering business specialising in rotating equipment and electromechanical services, supporting customers across a range of industrial sectors.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Business Development Lead to take ownership of internal sales and business development activity from their Cheddar operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong sales or customer-facing background who wants to develop their career within a technical engineering environment.

The Role

As Business Development Lead, you will be responsible for managing incoming enquiries, developing new business opportunities and proactively engaging with existing and dormant customers.

You will play a key role in converting enquiries into sales while ensuring customers receive a professional, responsive and high-quality service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing incoming customer enquiries by telephone and email.
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities across new and dormant accounts.
• Building strong, long-term relationships with customers.
• Preparing, issuing and following up quotations.
• Proactively chasing quotations, orders and purchase orders to maximise conversion.
• Managing leads generated through business development and marketing activities.
• Maintaining accurate CRM, quotation and customer records.
• Working closely with external sales colleagues to develop opportunities and support customer requirements.
• Following agreed sales strategies and contributing to business growth.
• Providing consistently high levels of customer service.
• Supporting general sales administration and branch activities where required.

About You

We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, organised and confident dealing with customers.

• Customer Service with a strong commercial focus

Experience within engineering, mechanical, industrial or rotating equipment environments would be advantageous, although a proven track record in sales and business development is more important.

You’ll ideally have:

• Proven sales or business development experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A confident and professional telephone manner.
• Strong customer service skills.
• A proactive approach to generating and following up opportunities.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider sales team.
• Resilience and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
