Why This Role Matters

As our School Business Manager, you will hold ownership of our professional systems, resources, and operational strategy across our 293-pupil site and Robin Pre-school. Working alongside the Headteacher, you will directly support the delivery of our school improvement plan ahead of our next Ofsted inspection. You will lead our marketing and widen our community engagement, ensuring our historic track record is matched by a clear, vibrant presence across digital and local channels.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience in financial management, operational leadership, or business administration.
• Strategic capability to manage budgets, site operations, and compliance with precision.
• Strong communication skills to lead external marketing, manage social media channels, and connect with local stakeholders.
• The ability to lead administrative personnel while working collaboratively with senior leadership.
• A proactive, solution-focused mindset aligned with a culture of continuous improvement.

The "Why Us" Difference

• Strategic Operational Agency: You will have real autonomy to refine business systems, modernise our community outreach, and influence overall school direction.
• A Grounded, Established Ethos: Work in a large, inclusive primary environment that supports learning from ages 2 through 11 on a single, well-resourced site.
• Workload-Sensitive Practice: We focus strictly on impactful, evidence-informed operations rather than performative administration.

The RLT Connection

"Education has the power to change lives... we are better, faster, stronger together."

As part of the River Learning Trust, you are never working in isolation. You will benefit from:

• Professional Security: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and recognised continuous public sector service.
• Shared Growth: A dedicated network of SBM peer groups across 31+ schools, alongside Trust-funded professional qualifications and apprenticeships.
• The Whole Person: 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme support and family-friendly policies designed for work-life balance.

River Learning Trust and Edward Feild Primary School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. We are an exempt employer under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

We actively value the "different contributions" you can make. We want you to be at your best during the application process; if you require any reasonable adjustments, please let us know.
