Venn Group’s specialist legal recruitment team is recruiting for a Criminal Duty Solicitor / Criminal Advocate on behalf of a well-established and growing multi-service law firm in Merseyside . This permanent opportunity offers the chance to join a highly regarded criminal defence team committed to delivering access to justice and high-quality legal services.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
Representing clients detained at police stations and providing advice throughout criminal proceedings
Managing a varied caseload of criminal defence matters covering a broad range of offences
Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, including contested hearings and summary trials
Providing practical and client-focused legal advice in publicly funded matters
Working closely with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for clients
About You
Qualified Solicitor with at least 1 year's PQE in criminal law
Accredited Police Station Representative
Criminal Litigation Accreditation preferred, although candidates willing to obtain accreditation will be considered
Strong advocacy, communication and client care skills
Experience managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision
Comfortable using case management systems and legal technology
Passionate about criminal defence and publicly funded legal work
Able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Professional, pragmatic and team-oriented approach
