Dispute Resolution Solicitor (3+ years PQE)

Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh, City Centre
Working hours: 35 hours Monday Friday 09:00 17:00
Jones Whyte's Dispute Resolution team handles some of Scotland's most complex commercial litigation, from high-value contract disputes to contentious property and employment matters. The Role

As a Solicitor in our Dispute Resolution department, we will require you to manage a varied caseload of commercial disputes and to represent clients in courts across Scotland. The ideal candidate will be client focused and proactive with a positive attitude and flexible approach. You will be a strong team player with excellent communication and technical skills.
The role presents an opportunity for the right candidate to develop personally and professionally within the firm and gain promotion.

Responsibilities

• Acting on behalf of clients in the resolution of contentious issues, including conducting hearings in the Sheriff Courts and the Court of Session
• Providing advocacy in tribunals, arbitration and mediation
• Taking statements, attending consultations, drafting pleadings, instructing expert witnesses, preparing cases for proofs/debates
• Actively participating in business development opportunities
• Working collaboratively and flexibly with other team members
• Working closely with experts and ensuring counsel are instructed accordingly where required

Requirements

• Strong work ethic and team player
• 3+ years PQE within a Dispute Resolution firm/department
• Strong technical knowledge
• Strong communication and organisation skills
• Positive outlook
• Proactive and responsive to clients' demands
• Ability to liaise effectively with peers and clients at various levels of seniority
