Senior Project Manager - Design & Build / Commercial Fit Out

Location: Bath / South West - UK Projects

Salary: £55,000 - £80,000 OTE DOE + Package

Sector: Commercial Fit Out / Design & Build / CAT A & CAT B

Start Date: ASAP / Flexible

Senior Project Manager - The Company

An excellent opportunity to join an established and growing workplace design and build contractor specialising in the delivery of high-quality commercial office fit out and refurbishment projects across the UK.

The business delivers CAT A, CAT A+ and CAT B projects, sustainable refurbishments and high-quality workplace environments for a broad range of commercial clients and property owners.

Projects typically range from circa £1m to £10m and combine high-quality design with technically demanding, fast-paced construction and fit out programmes.

With an excellent reputation, strong pipeline of work and collaborative approach across design, commercial and delivery teams, this is a genuinely interesting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager looking to take ownership of substantial D&B projects.

Senior Project Manager - The Role

You will take overall operational responsibility for the successful delivery of commercial fit out and refurbishment projects from pre-construction and mobilisation through to practical completion and handover.

This is a hands-on delivery role requiring someone comfortable taking ownership of complex projects, leading site and subcontract teams and acting as the key interface between the client, consultants, designers and wider project team.

• Lead CAT A and CAT B fit out projects from pre-construction through to completion and defects close-out.
• Take ownership of project programmes, critical paths, sequencing, logistics and resource planning.
• Act as the principal day-to-day contact for clients, consultants, landlords and other key stakeholders.
• Lead and coordinate Site Managers, internal project teams and subcontractors.
• Manage design information, drawings, RFIs, specifications, samples, approvals and technical submissions.
• Coordinate MEP, fire safety and specialist packages through design, installation, commissioning and certification.
• Maintain a strong site presence, proactively resolving operational and technical issues.
• Drive quality standards throughout the build rather than relying on end-of-project defect management.
• Manage project risk, reporting, progress records and key project information.
• Identify change, delay and disruption early and work closely with the Commercial team to protect the project position.
• Coordinate commissioning, O&Ms, warranties, statutory approvals, practical completion and client handover.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on programme and to the required quality standards.

Senior Project Manager - The Person

We are looking for an experienced construction Project Manager / Senior Project Manager with a strong background in commercial fit out, refurbishment or design and build.

You will ideally demonstrate:

• Strong experience delivering CAT A and/or CAT B commercial fit out and refurbishment projects.
• Experience managing projects in the £1m-£10m range.
• A strong understanding of programme management, logistics, design coordination and subcontractor management.
• Good technical knowledge of MEP, fire safety and specialist fit out packages.
• Working knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant compliance requirements.
• Experience working with JCT Design & Build contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to recognise change, delay and contractual risk.
• Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• SMSTS, CSCS and relevant construction qualifications would be advantageous.

You will need to be comfortable working closely with both site and office-based teams and travelling to projects across the UK as required.

Senior Project Manager - The Reward

This is an opportunity to join a successful and growing business where you will have genuine responsibility for delivering high-quality, technically interesting commercial projects.

You will work closely with senior leadership and experienced colleagues across design, commercial and construction, with the opportunity to influence how projects are delivered as the business continues to grow.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience and seniority, with an overall package / OTE in the region of £55,000 - £80,000.
