Key Account Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and customer-focused Operational Key Account Manager to join our Freight Forwarding business. This role is responsible for managing and developing strategic customer relationships, ensuring operational excellence, delivering exceptional service levels and identifying opportunities to grow revenue and increase customer share.

Acting as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of key customers, you will work closely with Operations, Commercial teams and the wider DP World network to deliver tailored freight forwarding solutions across air, ocean and road freight services. The successful candidate will combine strong operational freight forwarding knowledge with commercial acumen, relationship-building skills and a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.

This position is ideally suited to an experienced freight forwarding professional who understands customer requirements, enjoys solving complex logistics challenges and can build long-term, profitable partnerships with key accounts.

How You Will Contribute

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Act as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring a consistently high level of customer service.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer expectations and service commitments are achieved.
• Understand customer challenges and business objectives and identify opportunities to deliver value-added logistics and freight forwarding solutions.
• Support business growth by identifying opportunities to increase DP World's share of customer spend, introduce new services and expand into additional trade lanes.
• Prepare and present service proposals that address customer requirements and strengthen long-term partnerships.
• Develop, implement and maintain customer-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor service performance and ensure agreed milestones and KPIs are consistently achieved.
• Coordinate with origin and destination teams to proactively identify and resolve service issues.
• Lead customer reviews and quarterly business reviews (QBRs), driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Maintain accurate account data and ensure information integrity within internal systems.
• Support rate management activities, including account rates, spot quotations and rate comparisons where required.
• Assist with customer tenders, pricing exercises and business development opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the DP World network to ensure a seamless customer experience.
• Act as a positive ambassador for DP World, demonstrating the company's values, principles and commitment to service excellence.

About You

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

Experience

• Significant experience within the freight forwarding industry.
• Operational freight forwarding experience is highly desirable.
• Experience managing customer relationships within a logistics, freight forwarding or supply chain environment.
• Proven ability to maintain and grow strategic customer accounts.
• Experience analysing operational and commercial data to support customer and business decision-making.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

• High level of professionalism, integrity and discretion when managing customer and company information.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Additional language capabilities would be advantageous.
• Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally as required.
