Duration: 10-week programme

Market Engagement & Strategy Summer Internship Programme

Build Connections, Gain Real Business Insight and Shape the Future of Reinsurance

Looking for more than just work experience? If you're curious about how global businesses manage risk, make strategic decisions and build powerful industry partnerships, this could be the perfect way to spend your summer. Join Howden Re's Market Engagement & Strategy team and discover how they manage strategic relationships across the reinsurance market.

This is not a traditional broking role. It's a relationship focused and strategic role which combines communication, organisation, project support and data analysis.

The 10-week programme is designed to give you meaningful exposure to the world of reinsurance, while helping you develop the knowledge, professional skills and confidence to kick start your career.

Better still, our programme offers a direct pathway into our Autumn 2028 graduate roles, subject to business needs and individual performance.

What you'll be doing?

You will begin with a structured induction before joining the Market Engagement & Strategy team to work alongside experienced specialists on real client projects.

During the programme, you'll:

Take part in meetings with reinsurance companies and learn how our team manages relationships with them.
Learn how the team gathers financial data and market feedback from internal brokers and translates this into useful market insights for senior stakeholders.
Support with preparing materials for internal and external presentations.
Play a key role in preparing for the Monte Carlo Reinsurance conference which will include support with arranging meetings, capturing key discussions and producing clear notes to share with the wider business.

Who are we looking for?

No insurance experience is needed; we'll teach you everything you need to know!

You’ll be:

In your penultimate year of study from any degree background.
Someone who enjoys building relationships and communicating with a wide range of people.
Willing to contribute your thoughts and ideas during team discussions.
Organised with strong attention to detail.
Able to take ownership of tasks and work independently.
Comfortable working with basic data.
Adaptable and comfortable working in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift.

To be eligible for our programme, you must have the full and unrestricted right to work in the UK.

You’ll also benefit from:

£32,500 pro-rata over the 10-weeks.
Relocation support may be available for interns who need to relocate to take part in the programme. Support is assessed on a case-by-case basis and subject to eligibility criteria.
Opportunity to receive a deferred graduate offer for Autumn 2028.
Excellent training and development schemes and accelerated career progression.
Access to a buddy to support you throughout your internship.
6 days of leave, fully paid, plus bank holidays.
Access to discounted personal health policies as well as a range of insurance products.
