Salary: £40,000 basic + uncapped OTE of £55,000–£65,000+

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially driven and technically minded Business Development Manager to take ownership of the Scotland territory for a growing and innovative business specialising in industrial weighing, sensor technology, data acquisition and integrated software solutions.

This is a highly autonomous field-based role, combining new business development, technical sales and account management, with the opportunity to develop an established territory and build long-term customer relationships.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing revenue across Scotland, targeting customers within the industrial, heavy plant, waste and recycling sectors.

Key responsibilities will include:

• New Business Development – Identify, prospect and win new customers across the territory
• Technical Sales – Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable weighing, sensor and data-acquisition solutions
• Solution Development – Work with customers to deliver solutions ranging from individual installations through to integrated hardware, software and data systems
• Territory Management – Take full responsibility for developing and managing the Scotland region
• Account Development – Build strong relationships with existing customers and maximise opportunities for additional products and services
• Reactivation – Identify dormant and previously active accounts and develop them into new revenue opportunities
• Market Development – Identify new applications, sectors and commercial opportunities for the company’s expanding technology portfolio

About You

We are looking for someone who combines commercial ability with a genuine technical understanding.

You may have a background in:

• Technical or consultative sales
• Sensors and instrumentation
• Data acquisition or monitoring systems
• IT, software or software-integrated hardware
• Industrial weighing or weighbridge systems
• Heavy plant or machinery
• Waste, recycling or waste-handling equipment
• Industrial automation or connected systems

You will ideally have a good understanding of how hardware, software, sensors and data work together to deliver practical industrial solutions.

You should also be:

• Commercially focused and motivated by winning new business
• Confident dealing with customers at different levels
• Resilient, proactive and self-motivated
• A strong communicator and relationship builder
• Comfortable working independently and managing your own territory
• Technically curious and able to understand customer challenges and translate them into commercial solutions

Location

Scotland –ideally based centrally,althoughotherlocationswillbeconsideredfortherightcandidate.
